This weekend we attended the Tamale Festival in MacArthur Park which I found to be far superior to the Tofu Festival in that it was free to get in and for some reason, as a food, tamales just seem to offer more. It did lack a person-sized tamale character which would have rivaled the person-sized piece of tofu at the tofu festival.

We were starved and crazed by the time we got there since it had been about three hours since our breakfast of fruit stand fruit and coffee shop coffee. After being offered fake IDs three times in the short walk from the car, we ran wildly toward the first tamale stand we saw and demanded a box full [a beef, a carnitas and a blue corn. We scampered over to a bus stop to hog them down our faces like the children of wolves, bearing our teeth at the passersby. They were delicious and I think I would have said so even if I weren't half out of my mind with hunger.

Apparently the festival also offered lessons on how to make your own tamales but as you can see, we weren't interested in learning how to fish, we just wanted to eat for a day!

And if that weren't enough, fifteen minutes later we were eating pastrami sandwiches at Langer's.

Saturday was a beautiful day and it was nice to be in MacArthur Park which I consider to be one of the more beautiful parts of this place.

For reals.
