If I have one talent, its for rollerskating and last night, for the first time in years, I got to rink it up at the Moonlight Lanes in beautiful Glendale, California.

Also in attendance were kh, jessica, ta and THE Michael Bolton from the feature film, Office Space. I was happy to see that Michael was toting two female companions of a similar age, however, one of them was pretty wack. She seemed to be completely unselfconsious and exuded the essence of the "home-schooled." Yeah freaky...but the other was fine.

From the beginning it was very apparent that the aforementioned crowd were guests in a in-crowd of young roller punks, skate dancers, parents and other scattered groups who don't better than to be who they are.

I fell instantly into love as you can imagine. Round and round I skated to the sounds of miscellanious R&B and rap metal artists. Every turn of the rink, I found something more to love about the place, but what specifically?

Was it the smell of puke? Was it the gratuitous teen drama? Or was it the skating queen with her long straight hair and low cut denim pants? Was it the way she grooved so well, weaving in and out of the crowd like she was born to be a rollerskating starlet? OR was it her male counterparts in their baggy white denim tapered ankled pants and non-ironic mustaches (to borrow from ta)and BLACK (how dark, how mysterious) rollerskates?

Suffice to say, it was hard to say goodbye to the Moonlight Lanes but there was the scent of video games and pie from the NoHo diner in the air which meant of course that it was time to de-skate and move on.
